Sling Box

"A Silicon Valley start-up company called Sling Media is introducing a $250 gadget it calls a "personal broadcaster." This small device, named the Slingbox, can beam any live TV show coming into your home to an Internet-connected Windows PC anywhere in the world. It also allows you to remotely watch shows you have recorded at home on a TiVo or other digital video recorder."

Pretty cool looking. I can see this taking off with people sharing Sling boxes in different countries, states, etc. If you want to watch a Japanese TV show, just stream it from a friend in Japan. If you want to watch an NFL game from a local broadcast in another city, just find someone with a Sling....

Saw it at CompUSA, and I think it looks ugly. Like a bar of gold, but silver with engraved, pimply dots. I don't quite understand how it works or what it's supposed to do. Their marketing got to make its purpose clearer. Either that or wait for Apple to unleash its killer device.
