First trip of the year! Snowboarding in Whistler, Canada!

Headed to Whistler for 5 days with 3 solid days of snowboarding! Was able to get a ticket from United.com for $450 which includes a direct flight to Vancouver and a stopover in SF on the way back. Would have been sweet to get a direct both ways but just getting a direct on one way is great. At least I can grab some sourdough bread on the way back through SFO. They have flights for $398 now but that's with a stopover on both legs and the times didn't work with my schedule. We're staying here . It's the first time I've ever stayed at a ski-in, ski-out place. I was browsing the Things to Do Event Calendar on the Whistler website and it's Gay Whistler week the whole time we're there! Not that there's anything wrong with that. But nonetheless, it should be a fun week of snowboarding!

UH crushes San Jose St!

Went to check out the bball game and it was pretty much over before we got into the arena. When we got into the arena, the score was already 36-8! Got some beers, snagged some lower level seats. Didn't want to push it and venture into the super good seats like where the Club 939 gang sits. Kind of a sloppy game after UH got ahead by 30 pts. San Jose State fought back hard in the 2nd half to get it to 15 but that's about as close as they got. Monday's game vs Utah State should be a much closer game.

Lana'i, Moloka'i catch airfare break

"The interisland fare war is coming to Lana'i and Moloka'i.

Maui-based Pacific Wings Airlines said it will start a new discount carrier, PW Express, on Feb. 1 that will offer every day, $29 one-way fares for flights between Honolulu and Lana'i and Moloka'i."

Hmmm..sounds like it's time for a Lanai golf trip....

New Speeding Law for Hawaii

Drive carefully out there. The laws are much tougher now. I think they arrest you even for the first offense.


1.1. New Speeding Law for Hawaii: Speeding penalties increase for repeat
offenses beginning next year 2007, drivers caught going more than 30 mph
over the speed limit or 80 mph on any roadway in Hawaii will face the
following penalties:

- 1st offense: $500-$1,000 fine, 15- to 30-day license suspension, mandatory
driver education course, either 36 hours of community service or two to five
days in jail

- 2nd offense*: $750-$1,000 fine, 30-day license suspension, mandatory
driver education course, either 120 hours of community service or five to 14
days in jail

- 3rd offense*: $1,000 fine, three-month to one-year license suspension,
mandatory driver education course, 10-30 days in jail *Offenses must occur
within a five-year period.
