GEICO Mechanical Breakdown Insurance

Pretty good deal if you want to extend your warranty. Not that expsensive either. Mines cost $13 every 6 months. Worth it if something goes wrong.

Mechanical Breakdown Insurance Buys You Peace of Mind

You've purchased collision insurance to protect your new car in case of an accident and comprehensive insurance to protect against hazards such as fire, theft, or broken glass. But what happens when your air conditioning dies or your automatic windows won't close, just after your car is out of warranty?

GEICO’s Mechanical Breakdown Insurance (MBI) is designed to protect you from these bumps along the road. After a $250 deductible, MBI covers repairs to all mechanical parts of the car - except for maintenance and wear and tear. That means you'll never be saddled with unanticipated and expensive repair bills.

Special Protection For New Cars
MBI is specially designed to protect your new or leased car that is less than 15 months old and with less than 15,000 miles. Once you've purchased MBI, you can renew it for up to seven years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first).

Better Than An Extended Warranty
GEICO’s MBI provides better coverage and is cheaper than the typical dealer extended warranty. MBI coverage:

* Includes all parts and systems-not just the specific list of items covered by most dealer warranties.
* Saves you money. You pay only a small premium each policy period-not a large lump-sum payment up front.
* Lets you get your car repaired wherever you like.

Swap Your Extended Warranty For GEICO’s MBI
Already purchased your dealer’s extended warranty? Most contracts give you a full refund if you cancel within 30 to 60 days.

It’s easy to add MBI coverage to your policy. Do it online or give us a call.

MBI Exclusions
Exclusions to this policy include such regular maintenance services as tune-ups, suspension alignment, wheel balancing, filters, lubrication, coolant and fluids, spark plugs, brake pads and linings, brake shoes, and tires. Also, breakdown repairs made necessary by intentional damage, corrosion, misuse, or improper maintenance are not covered. Multi-Risk Insurance coverage is in excess of coverage provided by your manufacturer’s warranty. Read the policy amendment for the complete terms and conditions of this coverage.

Sling Box

"A Silicon Valley start-up company called Sling Media is introducing a $250 gadget it calls a "personal broadcaster." This small device, named the Slingbox, can beam any live TV show coming into your home to an Internet-connected Windows PC anywhere in the world. It also allows you to remotely watch shows you have recorded at home on a TiVo or other digital video recorder."

Pretty cool looking. I can see this taking off with people sharing Sling boxes in different countries, states, etc. If you want to watch a Japanese TV show, just stream it from a friend in Japan. If you want to watch an NFL game from a local broadcast in another city, just find someone with a Sling....

Michael Crichton interview

One of my favorite authors. Reading State of Fear now but the book is not as exciting as his others.

Here's an interview from Amazon.com

Q: What book has had the most significant impact on your life?
A: Prisoners of Childhood by Alice Miller

Q: You are stranded on a desert island with only one book, one CD, and one DVD--what are they?
A: Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu (Witter Bynner version)
Symphony #2 in D Major by Johannes Brahms (Georg Solti)
Ikiru by Akira Kurosawa

Q: What is the worst lie you've ever told?
A: Surely you're joking.

Q: Describe the perfect writing environment.
A: Small room. Shades down. No daylight. No disturbances. Macintosh with a big screen. Plenty of coffee. Quiet.

Q: If you could write your own epitaph, what would it say?
A: I don't want an epitaph. If forced, I would say "Why Are You Here? Go Live Your Life."

Q: Who is the one person living or dead that you would like to have dinner with?
A: Benjamin Franklin

Q: If you could have one superpower what would it be?
A: Invisibility

Carrot Top is a monster

Passed on from http://www.thesuperficial.com

I don't know why, but this picture of Carrot Top makes me think that he might actually be turning into a carrot. Or at least some sort of vegetable. I'm pretty familiar with muscle structure, and it's obvious that there's something very wrong with his face and body. I don't know what a vegetable would look like if it tried to take human shape, but I think it would be a little something like this. The nipples alone suggest we're not dealing with homosapien. And the face? My God, the face. Just looking at it makes me fear for the safety of all mankind. Damn you, vegetable people. Damn you to hell!

I LUV IHOP!

Old news for some people.....

http://starbulletin.com/2005/03/24/business/engle.html

Windward Mall will open
an IHOP; more Oahu
locations may be coming

YOU can almost smell the pancakes and melting butter. IHOP, formerly the International House of Pancakes, is coming to Windward Mall after nearly two years of negotiations, "almost to the date," said Jonathan Kim, the mall's general manager.

>

The restaurant will be built in about 5,400 square feet on the ground floor between Macy's and LaHens Designs Inc.

>

For early and late diners, the restaurant will open in the morning, close around midnight, and will have entrances from the interior of the mall as well as the exterior.

>

Oahu may get more IHOPs, too, as the California-based corporate headquarters sees "additional possibilities on Oahu ... in a growing population area," said Patrick Lenow, IHOP Corp. spokesman.

Wayne's World

Should've used these tips...like it would have mattered...

The Front Nine

1. Par 4, 380 yards
From the tee, there is plenty of room on the left side that enables you to avoid the trees on the right. There is a hidden bunker behind the left side of green.
2. Par 3, 175 yards
There is less wind at the green than you will feel on the tee. Safer on the right side of the green than the left. Front of green sits 20 yards from water.
3. Par 4, 354 yards
When Tradewinds blow think extra clubs. OB left is worse than trees on the right.
4. Par 5, 513 yards
Possible to reach in two with wind at your back. Favor the right side of fairway to avoid bunkers and woods on the left. Long approach shots will run off of the back side of this elevated green.
5. Par 4, 354 yards
Driver not necessary on this hole and could bring trees and water hazard into play on left side. With a short approach shot, it's time to think birdie.
6. Par 4, 435 yards
Long dogleg right. Must play a long left to right tee shot to have mid iron into the green. Length, large bunkers on right and left side of green make this the toughest hole on the front side.
7. Par 5, 544 yards
Tradewinds blow tee shots to the right making hole play longer. Tee shots that find the left side rough are big trouble, as the trees will block the second shot. Green breaks fast toward fairway.
8. Par 3, 177 yards
Usually more wind on the green than you will feel on the tee. Front bunker hides a green that is deeper than appears, placing a premium on club selection.
9. Par 4 377 yards
More room on the left side than can be seen off the tee but beware the hidden bunker & OB. Short hole, but think extra club if Tradewinds are blowing on approach.

The Back Nine

10. Par 5, 502 yards
Best to play left to right and aim at trees next to fairway on left side. A tee shot right of the fairway brings trees and bunker into play. Severely sloped green from front to back. Keep approach shots short of pin.
11. Par 3, 166 yards
Right to left Tradewinds will help your tee shots. Balls landing on center of green will run to back.
12. Par 4, 373 yards
This hole plays long into the wind making bunkers fronting the green even more penal. Downhill putts toward front of green will be very fast.
13. Par 4, 377 yards
Beware of the left-to-right Tradewinds that will blow tee shots towards the waste area on the right. Play it safe and aim for the front of green so you don't go long.
14. Par 4, 277 yards
Great risk/reward hole but even if you fly the ball to the green from the tee, it is shallow, sloped front to back and will be tough to hold. OB left, bail out area on right side starts about 75 yards short of the green.
15. Par 3, 180 yards
Down wind shot off of tee makes green tough to hold. All putts will roll towards pond on the left.
16. Par 4, 482 yards
Make sure to avoid the trees and water hazard on the right. Approach shot short of flag is best for an uphill putt. A par here is cause for celebration.
17. Par 5, 496 yards
OB left along entire hole. The "false front" bunker on the right is actually about 75 yards in front of the green. Second shots that clear the false front bunker have a good chance of running up on the green. Greenside bunker on right cannot be seen from the fairway.
18. Par 4, 373 yards
OB left. Aim tee shot at right side of the green. On approach avoid the cavernous greenside bunkers. Severely sloped green from back to front, leave yourself and uphill putt.
